How to unlock and equip Henry Cavill's armor from Netflix's The Witcher series in The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3’s next-gen update is out now, and players are finally testing out all of the new graphical features. But you know what’s better than graphical features? New quests, and the first main region of the game will see Geralt undertake a brand new adventure involving a member of the Wolf School that we’ve never seen before.
In The Eternal Fire’s Shadow is a new quest you can find in Velen, and you’ll be rewarded with the ability to craft Herny Cavill’s Witcher armor from the Netflix series once you complete it. It’s a surprisingly meaty quest, with a brand new cave complex to explore, and plenty of voice acting between Geralt, and Priest of the Eternal Fire, and Reinald, our new Witcher.

Starting In The Eternal Fire’s Shadow – The Witcher 3 next-gen
Things kick off in The Devil’s Pit. This is a large mine that you can explore the surface level of, and kick out some Deserters and Bandits. The Devil’s Pit is located next to Hanged Man’s Tree in Velen, just to the East. Follow the path to find the entrance, and you’ll meet a Priest of the Eternal Fire outside.
This priest will give you the quest you need, explaining that those with the plague have been trapped in The Devil’s Pit, and now a horrific screaming can be heard outside. Time to investigate.
Exploring The Devil’s Pit – The Witcher 3 next-gen
Once inside, make your way down to the bottom floor and you’ll see double doors on the back wall you can enter – these weren’t here prior to update 4.0. Venture into the cave, and keep an eye out for several notes from Reinald and Osmund. On top of that, you’ll be able to find several Greater Glyph of Yrden, which just might help in the upcoming fight. Hopefully you’ll already have celandine before entering, because you’ll need that too.
Once you’ve in deep enough, you’ll hear a ghostly voice asking for help. Let’s not trust it too hastily. As you move forward, make sure to use your Witcher Senses to identify markings of the Witcher Wolf School. These icons will lead you in the correct direction.
At the bottom of a broken set of stairs, you’ll have a tunnel to your right, and three Wolf School icons on the floor leading dead ahead. Follow the icons, not the voice that tells you to turn right.
In the next room you can find another letter from Reinald, and several walls to blow our with Aard. Keep following the path and the icons while picking up any important items. You can interact with the Plague Victim up ahead – it won’t fight you, but something is certainly wrong.
Crafting Reinald’s potion – The Witcher 3 next-gen
Make your way down far enough and you’ll come across a group of Plague Victims you must fight – an easy enough job as long as you’re levelled appropriately. Once they’re defeated, make sure not to ignore the Wolf School icon in this room – you’ll need to use the broken cart at the back of the room as a platform to jump over a wall in order to get inside the wooden room.
In here is where you’ll find Reinald’s notes, and where you’ll find how to create his special potion. You should craft this potion now, and also reference the Red Miasmal entry in the bestiary.
Once that’s done, keep moving through the cave and defeating any Plague Victims you find. Eventually, you will come to a set of double doors with a note attached. This is the final area.
How to free Reinald – The Witcher 3 next-gen
Once you enter the next room you should recognize a combat chamber when you see one. Reinald is at the back of the room, stuck inside a series of stalagmites. You can free Reinald by using the Aard sign on him, breaking the Stalagmites apart.
Once Reinald has been freed, he will ask for the potion you crafted. If you test him by asking a question, it should become obvious that the man you’re talking to isn’t the same one that wrote the notes you’ve been coming across in the cave. This isn’t Reinald, and you should not give him the potion you crafted. Instead, drink it yourself, and prepare for battle.
How to defeat Reinald and the Red Miasmal – The Witcher 3 next-gen
It’s time for a two-phase boss fight. Be prepared to dodge his attacks, and he’s a Witcher, so each attack will likely have a follow-up for you to dodge immediately after. You should shield up with Quen, and still dodge as often as possible. If he creates a red bubble shield, you must not attack, otherwise you’ll always get hit with a counter.
A good strategy is hitting Reinald with two fast strikes after dodging his attacks, then using Igni on him and following that up with another two fast strikes. Repeating this should lower his health significantly.
But Reinald has another weakness. Once you’ve taken off two thirds of his health, you can combine Yrden with Aard in order to force the Red Miasmal out of Reinald’s body.
Beating the Red Miasmal is much tough than Reinald, though. It will warp around the battlefield quickly and even summon Plague Victims to distract you. On top of that, it has a thick healthbar.
Luickily the Red Miasmal will telegraph its attacks heavily, making it easier to dodge than Reinald. Yrden will power up the strength of your attacks, and Aard is still a useful sign to use. Again, Quen will help keep your defenses up if you’re worried about running low on health, and you should keep a close eye on your health bar. Keep up the pressure, and you’ll be able to take down Reinald and the Red Miasmal.
In The Eternal Fire’s Shadow epilogue – The Witcher 3 next-gen
Once the Red Miasmal has been defeated, you’ll be able to talk with Reinald and find out more about the Witcher school he came from, and how he came by such a different set of armor.
You are given the option of fetching the priest who gave you the quest to talk with Reinald, and how they’re interaction pans out depends on how you mediate the situation. Reinald is mad, and certainly has no love for the Church of the Eternal Fire.
Once the conversation is over the quest will be complete, and you’ll be given a new gear hunt quest that will allow you to craft the Netflix Witcher armor. This gear quest kicks off when you’re able to return to Kaer Morhen.
